At KW Auto Body, we see hundreds of wrecked vehicles every month, and the one thing that never wavers is that sometimes there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. Although you may not be able to control the car next to, behind or in front of yours, you can and should always wear your seatbelt. In honor of May’s “Click it or Ticket” Month, we’re buckling down on seatbelts.
Backseat buckling continues to prove a greater problem with each new year. According to 2014 seatbelt statistics by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 58 percent of those killed in crashes were not wearing a seatbelt. Moreover, of all the vehicle related deaths, a majority of them were in result of not buckling up. This is just one of the many reasons as to why seatbelt wearing should be a front and center issue. With that said, the seatbelt dilemma isn’t only towards front seat drivers and passengers, backseat riders (and drivers) must wear belts at all times as well. Those passengers who use lap/shoulder belts in the backseat are 44 percent more likely to survive in a crash than their unrestrained counterparts. The likelihood of survival jumps to 77 percent for those who buckle up in passenger vans and SUVs.
Since its beginning, the NHTSA estimates that “Click It or Ticket” has improved the number of traffic fatalities by over 4,000 people, while at the same time preventing a whopping 72,000 serious injuries. The numbers do not lie, the stats are crystal clear – so choose wisely as to which statistic you’d like to be apart of. While KW Auto Body is committed to fully restoring what’s outside (your car), we’re more concerned about keeping the precious cargo safe. Stay calm, stay buckled, and stay safe.
While KW Auto Body is all about restoring your car on the outside, we’re more committed to keeping what’s inside your car – you – safe! While our number one goal is to keep you safe out there, know that we're here to fix you up for those unexpected bumps on the road. Drive safe Hawaii Peeps!
Aloha from All Of Us at KW Autobody!
